Fashion heiress Margherita Maccapani Missoni Amos welcomes her second son and a children’s-wear line while planning no-fuss family travels.
Margherita Maccapani Missoni Amos is partial to her native Italy. Born in Milan, she is the granddaughter of fashion house founders Ottavio Missoni and Rosita Missoni Jelmini.” I come from a family of fashion designers,” she says. “Their name is Missoni.” She studied acting in New York and pursued an acting career in Paris and Rome, but her fashion DNA won out. Missoni Amos wanted to create her own stamp on fashion and now has her own children’s-wear line, the Margherita kids’ collection. “It has roots in my background and comes to life through my experiences,” she says. Italy called to her, too. “I moved back to Italy, but only when it felt right. My husband (race car criver Eugenio Amos) and I share a very strong sense of belonging to the town outside of Milan where we both grew up.”

Having recently given birth to her second son, Augusto — she has another son, Otto — her children are included in travel plans. This summer, the family spent time in Portofino, where they’ve relocated, and in Costa Brava, Spain. “My husband has a place there, and I had a chance to visit Cadaques, which is absolutely beautiful.” It was then off to Sardinia “where we spent time at my family’s house.” For New Year’s, they’ll jet off to Uruguay and Argentina — specifically Punta Del Este and Buenos Aires. “Eugenio is taking part in the Dakar” — an off-road vehicle race/rally.
What will be stocked in her travel bags for the excursion?

“I’m constantly checking my email for work, especially with my new business; so I always carry a Mophie for extra battery life and a Lifeproof Nuud when I’m heading to the sea.”

I have to have the BABYZEN YOYO, which folds down
for stowing
on flights.”

is adorable and whimsical. I love to bring
a few of these styles along when we travel for my youngest boy, Augusto.”
